This is the main reason I’m not happy with just lowering textures, as there is already a noticeable difference between Ultra and High. Certain items appear extremely low quality, even when set to “Medium” or “High.” Only the “Ultra” setting ensures that all textures are at maximum quality, but it eventually triggers the bug after a certain amount of time. This issue is noticeable on doors, walls, and the ground. With the exception of the “Ultra” setting, all other texture settings show random extremely washed-out textures. To further test this, I made my character move across the screen and quickly open the quit game pop-up, which confirmed that the game becomes super smooth when the confirmation pop-up is displayed, no stutters. However, once you you cancel the pop-up the stuttering is back. When the confirmation window is open, you can see the game running in the background smoothly without any stuttering. An interesting thing I noticed: when the bug occurs, trying to exit the game through the menu and triggering the confirmation pop-up (asking if you’re sure you want to quit Diablo 4) seems to fix the issue. This usually fixes the problem, but in some cases, it doesn’t, meaning that even lowering textures the game still stutters and requires a complete restart (maybe in this case it’s network related?). The only temporary fix seems to be lowering the textures setting and then restoring it to its original (for example, from Ultra to Low and then back to Ultra). This issue often occurs when entering towns, using town portals, opening the inventory or map, or even just randomly. The game runs smoothly initially but suddenly it slowdowns and starts stuttering like crazy, which it never recovers from. This bug has persisted since both the beta and server slam. I haven’t come across any discussions or threads addressing the memory leak issue that forces a game restart or requires changing texture settings, although the latter doesn’t always resolve the problem.
